It is finally official. After a period of heavy speculations when the Windows 7 Beta would be released to the public the final date of the Windows 7 beta release has been published by the Windows 7 Dev Team. Windows 7 Beta will be released publicly on January 9 at the official Microsoft Windows 7 website. MSDN subscriber and Technet subscribers can download the beta of Windows 7 already.

And it goes without saying but I'll say it anyway-> Do Not Install it on a mission critical machine.

A guy from MS has also said they dont expect Windows 7 to be released in 09

A: I don't have an extra machine to risk except a sock-A which probably wouldn't run it anyway.
B: I don't want to slow my machine down for hours to DL it...
C: I'll be sticking to XP for as long as I can anyway, TYVM.

I downloaded this lastnight and got it setup.
Really, I like it. I understand it's BETA now, and things are gonna change. But it saw all my hardware without any drivers installed, which is better then vista already. Vista didn't see me LAN or Onboard sound.
Anywho, it seems to be quicker then Vista once you on the desktop screen. It takes about as long to boot as Vista.
So far so good IMO.  |
