problems loading WinXP

I am trying to load Windows XP onto a new hard drive from a CD Rom, and it keeps stalling at about 8% of the files loaded.
All parts are used, and have not been used together in the past:
ASUS A7M266 motherboard
AMD Athlon XP processor
IBM 16GB HDD, Model: DTTA-351680 E182115 S
256 MB PC2100 RAM
fat32
CD ROM 52X MAX
Power supply 145 Watt max

Any suggetions that you might have will be appreciated.

Dust n dirt on the cd or cd drive can cause this.

Unless its is a hardware problem/heat problem it is probably going to be the CD.

It could also be bad memory.
