| modified pst file in Outlook
Hi,
I was backing up my email pst. file, then I accidentally tried to open in with Microsoft Word.
Now the pst file has a Word icon, instead of an Outlook icon. When I try to open it via Outlook, I get an error message ‘an error has occurred in the script on this page’
How do I get it back to being an Outlook file?
Am I completely stuffed?
Outlook is otherwise functioning normally itself. |

If it's just a back up copy - make another one

It's not just the back up copy. The original pst. file in its hard drive folder is changed. I need to get that to revert back to being an Outlook file... |

Right click the file, choose properties, press the change button, and choose Outlook to open the program.
Edit; you want to check the always open with box.

Thanks Stroyal.
I did try this but Outlook is not one of the options in the list of other programs. I also tried to find it by 'Browsing' but couldn't. Is there some way that I can include Outlook to the list of other programs? |

That may not be the answer, I don't have Outlook, but I do have Outlook Express, and that isn't on the list.
Try tool, folder options, file type. you may need to undo something in there, like deleat a type. |

I tried that too! But when I go into Folder Options, there is no 'File Type' option anywhere. Just a General tab, Details tab and Search tab, with their respective options in each. |

Windows Vista 32-bit. Going into Tools via Menu bar at top. |
