firefox 3.5 is slow to start

Firefox 3.5 uses Tracemonkey, which is similliar to google's V8 engine.

AFAIK, V8&Tracemonkey use some kind of special cache, with unlimited run-time. Because of this, first 10-20 start-ups of browser are delayed*.

Don't worry everything will be OK again.

Firefox 3.5's slow startup has been pinned to its security/encryption functions, which scan files in various folders - files that Firefox has nothing to do with, such as Internet Explorer's temporary files. A description and workarounds are here:

Be sure you're viewing page 5 of the thread, the message by Noah_SUMO beginning, "It has been proven there is definitely something wrong with the startup of Firefox 3.5 as it is too slow." He has updated this several times; the current version includes a screencap of the Delete Browsing History window with the Preserve Favorites Website Data box unchecked.
