<3 Technet subscription
Still have yet to upgrade some of the systems here from RC, 2/5 are still running RC.
Did have to install XP on one of our older machines for my sister. It's so old that it can't run Win7 half decent (it's an old eMachines AMD 2800 with 1.5GB of ram IIRC, but my netbook with a 1.6Ghz Atom and 1GB of ram does perfectly fine). |

| Freebie for the wife, personally not interested...
Wifey got a Dell 1545 lappy about 7 weeks ago, it has a free upgrade to W7.
I'm just starting to investigate exactly how W7 is to become installed, I'm hoping I can get a M$ factory fresh version (unadulterated) and not have to get a version from Dell or Best Buy... the latter 2 will most likely either junk W7 up with so-called deals and limited time software or offers we CAN refuse (Dell) or it will be a garbage 'generic' version (Best Buy).
Me, I'm sticking with dual booting the desktop with XP64 Pro and PCLinuxOS 2009.1, the Eee 900A netbook will never run a Windows OS. |

It's very easy to find an unmodified retail Win7 install disk online. |

I've been running it for a couple of weeks now. Nice operating system. Less filling, runs great.

After that I see it in weekends for a year and a half. Maybe I should save my $$ and go back to XP?

Looks like I might be studying part time next year, and MS lets you buy a full copy of win7 Ultimate as a student at my uni for AUD$50, so I'll wait until then.
Running the RC on my old lappy with nary a problem, so am happy to wait (although the 'get genuine' nags will get old quick ) for a while until I get a full copy.
Cheers
Mick
