So who bit the bullet?
Who went out and bought Windows 7 today or is getting an upgraded version?

I downloaded two free copies from MSDN....Waiting for third to come in the mail

Now if only I had a pc to install one of them on...Kind of feel like I'm all dressed up and no where to go

My high end gaming PC is needing a Copy of Windows 7. I can trade you hundreds of old MSDN CDs (The newest thing is an MSDN corporate license Windows XP with unlimited activations, so its old) for your one Windows 7 disc

If Steve doesn't feel like Santa today, I'll be buying Windows 7 around the beginning of the year once I settle into my new digs and get my new network and server all setup and running.
Right now all of my spare money is going towards buying new furniture

Been running the rc for a while now, figure I'll just bide my time.

Eh I signed up to do a Win7 house party so I got a copy of Ultimate and a bunch of freebies from that oh and got a bunch of W7 related spam...lol Not a bad deal for posting some pics of the un-boxing and sending out a couple emails. Haven't actually made the switchover from the RC to the release yet, backing up and doing some other stuff first. Maybe next week

Bought it back in July on a promotion for Win 7 Ultimate for $99.00
Been running the beta on my lappy for quite some time. Plus, the beta won't expire till July next year.
I'll get another copy then for it.

I picked up my copy from microcenter today. They had a pre-purchase deal in June for $39.99 that I had done.
I have RC7100 on a hdd sitting on my desk & the XP drives are currently in the PC. IDK went I'll get around to swapping everything. lolWhat computer do you have? And please don't say a white one. - Sheldon Cooper

Still running the RC-7100. It will be good for a while yet. Better than Vista anyways. Waiting for the Christmas sale for the 3 copies I need.

my laptop has been dying for the past year, and past few months has been going down the drain rapidly.
So I just waited long enough to be able to buy a laptop with w7 built in... no way in hell was I going to do an upgrade

Still have yet to upgrade some of the systems here from RC, 2/5 are still running RC.
Did have to install XP on one of our older machines for my sister. It's so old that it can't run Win7 half decent (it's an old eMachines AMD 2800 with 1.5GB of ram IIRC, but my netbook with a 1.6Ghz Atom and 1GB of ram does perfectly fine)."The problem with quotations on the internet is that the sources are hard to verify" - Abraham Lincoln

Freebie for the wife, personally not interested...
Wifey got a Dell 1545 lappy about 7 weeks ago, it has a free upgrade to W7.
I'm just starting to investigate exactly how W7 is to become installed, I'm hoping I can get a M$ factory fresh version (unadulterated) and not have to get a version from Dell or Best Buy... the latter 2 will most likely either junk W7 up with so-called deals and limited time software or offers we CAN refuse (Dell) or it will be a garbage 'generic' version (Best Buy).
Me, I'm sticking with dual booting the desktop with XP64 Pro and PCLinuxOS 2009.1, the Eee 900A netbook will never run a Windows OS.

It's very easy to find an unmodified retail Win7 install disk online.

I've been running it for a couple of weeks now. Nice operating system. Less filling, runs great.

same here. Ive got a big exam in two weeks. After that Im gonna get me retail W7 64 and install it. Or maybe. Hmm. The RC is good til March. I enlist in the army on the 26th Apr 2010 and dont see my computer for 4 months. After that I see it in weekends for a year and a half. Maybe I should save my $$ and go back to XP?

Looks like I might be studying part time next year, and MS lets you buy a full copy of win7 Ultimate as a student at my uni for AUD$50, so I'll wait until then.

Running the RC on my old lappy with nary a problem, so am happy to wait (although the 'get genuine' nags will get old quick
) for a while until I get a full copy.
Cheers

In other news.... I downloaded service pack 3 for XP. Hopefully that will let me UPDATE FARKING XP. With service pack 2 and IE8 it craps out when I try to download updates.
