| Speaking of Win 7 drivers...
Everything was working fine with my new install until after I did some automatic upgrades (and, perhaps, until after I ran System Mechanic 8.5). Anyway, after rebooting, I no longer have any functioning network connection, and Device Manager says that my NIC can't start. Do I need to repair the driver, and if so, how? Run the chipset installation?
Since I can't get on the net to do an automatic driver fix from Gigabyte, I'm downloading the Window 7 chipset driver (motherboard_driver_chipset_amd_7series-v2.0_win7-64.exe) at work right now, onto a flash drive. Is there also a correct set of drivers on the Windows 7 installation disk?

Automatic updates almost certainly didn't do it.
You can give system restore a try. Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore |

I just had a similar thing happen.
Updated ethernet controller and then the device could not start.
I rolled back to the previous driver and all is now hunky dory.
Are you able to "roll back" to previous driver?

Registry tweakers are a last resort for me. |

Different options there, and one is to "roll back" to previous driver.
There is probably an easier way to get there but i don't know what it is.
Let me know if this helped. |

If you have another functioning computer available, I would try going online with it and going to your manufacturers website, and downloading the new windows 7 drivers, then just transfer them over to your windows 7 computer.

I've downloaded the latest drivers and installed them; that didn't work, and Device Manager says I have the correct drivers. It tells me "This device cannot start (Code 10)", but that doesn't help. I can't roll back the drivers; that's greyed out. I've done System Restore to just past the latest Windows Update; that didn't work.
What now? |

When you do it this way make sure that after the properties tab, that the change settings tab is clicked, and then the driver tab.
If you just click the driver tab before the change settings button, then it is greyed out. |
