Vista freeze then BSOD possible WPD filesystem volume driver?

I am having trouble with a Vista HP SP2 desktop. When i boot the machine, i can log into my user account and then the computer either asks me to reinstall the WPD filesystem driver, which freezes no matter which option of the three i choose, or the PC freezes for a minute and then a BSOD flash screen then reboots.

i can boot into safe mode OK, but i cannpot uninstall the WPD filesystem driver from portable devices in device manager.. it's not there!

and when i boot into normal startup, i cannot get to the device manager quick enough before the computer freezes.

any suggestions on how to rectify my problem is appreciated

a few more things to add... as i played around trying to figure out what was wrong, i created another user account and was able to log into it without any trouble. the WPD filesystem driver had an exclamation mark in this user setting under device manager. i disabled it and rebooted. i tried logging into the affected user account and still get the same thing, freezing, bsod, reboot??

i had recently uninstalled a blackberry desktop program and started having trouble after that? perhaps i have some sort of malware that malwarebytes didnt pick up in my safemode scan?
