There may be drivers out there for you printer on vista. What makes you think there are drivers on 7 for it?
My personal choice is Win 7. I am using the RC and have the retail, just no time to put it in yet. | Seeing how well the response to Windows 7 has been, I think that it will be a while before windows 8 comes out. The only reason why Vista was replaced so fast was because it was such a dud when it came out that people hated it even when it was improved (and it is very good now). I think 8 will be in a good 3 or 4 maybe 5 or 6 years (like XP).
If you are fine with Vista other than the driver, I see no reason to upgrade. Its a good OS, contrary to popular belief. If you were still using XP then by all means go to 7. But Vista to 7 is not thatt much different (I have both, one on each of my computers which sit side by side so I am in a position to compare). If you can get a free/ cheap upgrade though then yes go for 7.
Is your printer expensive? Heck I cant imagine why you wouldnt just get a new one if its getting old (which I rightly or wrongly guess from the fact that there are driver problems). Its going to be less troublesome than reinstalling your OS.
