Deleted email addy keeps bouncing back...
WinXP home; IE6; OE6
Hello, a couple of email addresses I had on my list bounced several times because, the bouncing program said, "address not found" or somthing. So I decided to get rid of them by deleting them. This always worked with similar cases, but it seems these 2 are stubborn and the bouncing program keeps bouncing them back to me.
Kindly let me know if there's a way for me to get rid of these 2 forever without having to install another program?
Thanks so much for any suggestions.
Adela

The ISP you sent the mail too will try for a few days to deliver the mail...It will eventually give up.

Hello and thank you Steve, but it has been bouncing them back, after deleted, for around a month now. And it happens with each message I send out. Actually one of them has been bouncing back (after deleted) for over a year now and with each new message I forward to my list! Do you really think it may take this long?
I keep scanning my list many times thinking it might be in some corner but... no such 2 names appear...
Thanks again.

Hi Adela.... IMO, you should consider upadating to IE8, and the current version of OE... JMHO.... of course... YMMV!

Oh thank you bBh! Do you really think upgrading to IE8 will solve this problem? I'm waiting until the last moment to do it since I've read many people's complaints about IE8. Does upgrading the OE mean going to Outlook? Ditto for this too...

I searched for the meaning of "YMMV" but didn't find it. Spell it out for me please?
Thanks very much for your opinion, I'll think more about the upgrades... AdelaAnimals exist for their own reasons. They weren’t made for humans any more than blacks were made for whites, or women for men Alice Walker

Thank you so much GroundZero, but which do you think should I upgrade to, IE7 or IE8? And do you know if there's a charge?
Thanks again.

Hello again Adela... Your Mileage May Vary
As far as the update to IE goes, if you are using the Microsoft Update Service, it should automatically offer version IE8. If... for some reason you do not have the update service active in Windows, I highly recommend you activate it, to get all security and usability patches from MS.... If you are concerned about IE8 though, use the link that GZ3 kindly provided to get IE7... There will be no charge for it.◄ it is what it is ►

Hi...and thanks for YMMV! lol! Also thank you so much for recommending to upgrade the IE. Yes, IE8 appears at each turn in my computer reminding me to update so, being I don't know either the IE7 or IE8 I may as well take the plunge and take the latest, which I'll do the next time it appears, if it doesn't I'll go to Microsoft...
Also for years now a little icon waiting in my taskbar pops up each time I open the computer saying "Updates are ready for your computer click here to install". Are these updates something that will come with the IE update, or do you think I should go ahead and accept them now?
So sorry to take so much more time from you and, again, my gratitude for your help as well as the help of Steve and GZ3. AdelaAnimals exist for their own reasons. They weren’t made for humans any more than blacks were made for whites, or women for men Alice Walker

That is the normal way Microsoft updates your computer Operating System...
BTW, no need to apologize... everyone starts somewhere. If you haven't been doing the updates on a regular basis, there may be quite a few that need installation. Don't be surprised if you have 50 or more waiting for permission...
After the updates are completed, there will be a few more for IE8 as well.
keeping you computer up to date with the patches/hotfixes is one of the best ways to avoid problems with the system. Also, I'm sure you have Anti-Virus installed... that must be updated at least once a month, or sooner... If you don't have one, a good free one is: AVG Free - Antivirus Download | Best Virus Protection

Oh on opening that little waiting icon for updates I notice that it says it's for SP3 which also, together with the IE8 andother updates, I ignored it because of problem sI read about... But I guess I'll go ahead and accept it. Now that you mention it, I did notice also that for a long time I didn't get any automatic windows updates as I used to get them before. Could my blocking this SP3 have stopped them? Goodness 50 or more updates! Sounds like an avalanche so I better be prepared... lol!
It seems I'm going to be installing quite a few things, but hopefully they won't cause too much headaches...
Thank you for suggesting AVG free, I used to have it but lately changed to antivir free and it automatically updates frequently.
Thanks again so much!

The original rollout for SP3 was in about June of 2008... it did have some issues at that time, (audio/video) but they have been ironed out as far as I'm concerned...
