OE 6 Hates me
Okay, I've searched the internet for an answer to this problem and now I place it to you.
I use MSN Hotmail through Outlook Express 6, and every time I get my messages, they always download twice!! and if I delete on copy, the other always goes with it! This is starting to drive me insane!
The resources I looked at were no help (this consisted mostly of personal websites and BBS/Newsgroups) with my sorrows.
Any ideas would be most appreciated!
Thanks in advance

LOL, I got the same exact problem, however if i delete one of them the other does not delete. I just keep hitting the delete button cause most of its junk mail. Plus when deleting always get error messages. :Sigh:
I'll watch this thread here.

Been hunting around for solutions to this at microsoft and not much help there nore the hotmail site.
Anyone found solutions to this? Wondering cause now its doing a new thing to me, if i delete one of the 2 messages same message that come in and i go to click on a hyperlink inside of the message IE now freezes up. only way out is to go to task manager and end task.

Try this: Open Outlook Express.
Tools>Accounts>Mail>your account>Properties>Advanced>Leave copy of message on server
<edit> Another question. Do you have multiple email accounts? Perhaps one of them forwards to your main account?

In the left side of OE,click on "hotmail" ,this should bring up the sync settings on the right side,UNCHECK all boxes.(or right click "inbox" under hotmail and set it to "don't sync")
This solved it for me,OE still will DL the message headers, but not the whole message until you click on them.

Fingers, Hotmail account don't have that advance setting. I had looked cause I have two accounts that I use with express and hotmail does not have the advance setting whearas my other account does.
Ace, i did as you suggested and will post back as soon as more messages come in and see if it double downloads them again or if its stopped.

I am happy to report that Ace McGirk solution to the double emails has worked well.

New problem is that it freezes when i open up a mail that I want to read and click on any links inside of the email and then it freezes. that just started yesterday.
If it ain't one thing its always another thing
Thanks Ace.

When my messages are downloading, I often see doubles but when the operation completes, the doubles dissappear... maybe you should try waiting until everything is done before you read and stuff?

I fixed the prob, but I can't remember how. That's the prob with tweak this, try that, uncheck this and suddenly is works and you think "Now how did i just do that?"

Resetting the sync for hotmail seemed to do the trick!
