    thanks for the tip on mounting NTFS partitions - it is now included in the PET and due credit given.
    Odds are very good there are several spelling mistakes in this post.

    /dev/hda1 /dos ntfs defaults,user,ro,umask=002,gid=100 0 0

    This would work for a vfat partition as well wouldn't it??

    You would need to change the type from ntfs to vfat & probably not want to mount it read only, but yeah basically the same.
