create drive image
It seems I am stuck being the family IT person against my will. Ranging from 86 year old Grandmother that must say yes to every pop up she sees, to porn addicted 14 year old nephews.
No matter how often I tell my family to not install and download crap, they continue to do it. By the time they bring the computer to me there is so much junk, and the registry is beyond my ability to clean up. So I typically just reinstall the computers and start over. This is about every six months for most of the computers. It works out that at least once a month I get to spend a weekend playing Nerd Am I..
My problem is that many of the systems are aging, the factory image on them is two to four years old, and I have replaced parts in many of them. So it takes hours for me to do all the updates, install drivers, and clean off all the junk add prorgrams that come on prebuilts.
I would like to reimage the drives after I am done, so next time dont have as much to do. Since I dont make any money off this.. I dont have much to spend for either software or image storage. Any suggestions guys? (or maybe I should just learn to say no.. sigh)

Well you have few options.
1) you might look into using something like GoBack or DeepFreeze. MS had Steady State which was free but has been discontinued.
2) Check your hard drive manuf sites. WD offers a free home version of Acronis True Image (found here)
3) you can checkout some freeware alternatives like Clonezilla - About or PING (Partimage Is Not Ghost)
