windows7 slow shutdown
Since a few days the shutdown process on my laptop (MSI-windows7) has become very slow. The message displayed is "Preparing to configure windows. Do not turn off your computer" It may take the computer as much as an hour to actually complete the shutdown process. And this is not a one off event, but keeps recurring with each shutdown. It seems like a a windows upgrade has failed to complete. Does anybody have a suggestion as to how to fix this?

I see a lot of things, but this one might point to the problem:
" The Windows Modules Installer service did not shut down properly after receiving a preshutdown control."

The culprit seems to be KB976932.
This message keep recurring in the setup log: Initiating change for package KB976932. Current state is Absent. Target state is Staged. Clientid: WindowsUpdateAgent.
How can I fix this?

That ID is windows 7 SP1. You could try installing it manually:
Download details: Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932)
Otherwise a system restore might do the trick.
