My laptop does not boot from cd
Hi all, i'm new here. I had a problem with my HP Nv5000 laptop.
I have try to reinstall windows but after format (quick ntfs) stopped responding. I try many times to reinstall but nothing, i had an error: "<windows root?\system32\hal.dll. file is corrupt".
After that i clean my disk using "DBAN" in a bootable cd (that is mean that cd driver is working right?).
But now after DBAN finished, i cannot start a new installation coz my laptop des not promp me to boot from CD. I try to start pressing "esc" key and i have in boot order FLOPPY-CD-HDD and i have choose CD (LAN disabled - There is not USB boot option).
I have try to install windows from original cd, Linux Mint, Linux Ubundu, UBCD for win, but without succes. It is just dont promp me to boot from cd. I have only the HP logo and after that a black screen with a slash on the up left corner.
Notice that i have check all Cd's to my other pc.
Any suggestions plz?Last edited by mikefromgreece; July 8th, 2011 at 09:39 AM. Reason: add comments

The cd drive could be dirty or defective. Try blowing the dust out of it.
Imagine a world where dogs took bad owners to the pound...

no problem. With mine, 560 Ti's in SLI, I don't get much GPU usage with internet, they'll heat up to maybe 40-45C, 50 if the room is warm, with GPU acceleration in the browser. otherwise mine...
SLI problem? :(
