looking for an IE ability or utility that can...
Hey there,
Is there a way (in IE) that, instead of just bookmarking a page like normal (i.e. the URL), is
there a way you can bookmark a specific area? In other words, a way to bookmark where you last left off (where your scroll bar was) so that if you go back to your bookmark link, you could perform a navigate function that would instantly snap you to that last left area? Now, I know you can do it one way which is to just bookmark the page again AT the area you're currently looking at, and it will do it that way just fine, but I'm not talking about that. What I'm referring to is if you could still have your basic bookmark link (i.e. it loads the page regularly/the top of the page) AND
have the additional option of being able to do a function where you could tell I.E. to jump down the page to the last area you were at on that page. I realize this might take two functions to do (if its even possible), which is one would have to be telling IE the area you're at first of all, and then later when you come back, having to do another function on IE to get back to that area.
Anyone know if IE offers something like this? and if not, perhaps someone has created a utility to do this?
Keep in mind, I don't want to have to do a 'second' bookmark in addition to the first one I already have of the page just to be able to get to that area of the page I want. Rather, I'm looking for a way to get to that area of the page by still having my regular bookmark but just performing some kind of action so to speak, to get me to the area of the page again.
Let me know browser experts!

Well you'd have to find an add-on or third party service to do it. A few seconds on Google and I found an add-on for FireFox (sorry nothing for IE yet)

Oops! sorry bro, when I first went to look at your reply, damn Technimo and it's advertisements were so messy everywhere that I didn't even notice the links! Upon second viewing of the thread, the ads weren't there and i could clearly see your post! ...makes me wonder why Techimo shows all those crazy ads only sometimes but not all the time?! weird.
in any case, thanks man! i think that bookmark one is going to work for me. i'll have to switch to using FF, but maybe that's better anyway.

Darn!
Both addons have their downfalls.
The first link of the taboo addon isn't compatible with FF 5.0 which is the version I have. I
supposed I could downgrade though.
The 2nd link is actually really AWESOME addon, but unfortunately they left out a HUGE
convenience of it that I wish they wouldn't have. It allows you to place this cool horizontal
line across the page (a line bookmark) and it works great, however, it only stays on the
page if you stay on the tab i.e. if you stay on the page. What I wanted was a way I could
LEAVE the page, come back, and the horizontal line bookmark would STILL BE THERE, even
if I x'd out the tab or reloaded the page with another page but then came back. Unfortunately,
it only works if you keep that tab open. The whole point of bookmarking is so if you have to
leave for whatever reason so that you can come back and find it again! Cool design, bad implementation. This one has a highlight feature too, but again, it only keeps the highlight
if you stay on the page
Thanks anyways man, I'll probably end up trying to downgrade my FF to see if the taboo works out.

Uninstall Firefox 5 and install this version. Download Firefox 3.6.13 - FileHippo.com
The addon nightly tester tools may be of help, but for some reason I don't have the force install option anymore using it. If you use nightly tester tools you would go to your addons and right click the addon, the option is there. Here is another route. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...lity-reporter/
Old Version of Firefox 3.6.17 Download - OldApps.com
I think the newest Firefox sucks. Who needs that damn toolbar! And no more stop button!Last edited by Taxmancometh; July 13th, 2011 at 10:36 PM.
