"ERROR 1606: Could not access network location %APPDATA%" Usual fix isn't working?
When installing software (such as a vid game or java update) I get an "ERROR 1606" which stops me from completing the installation. I've googled this issue and have found many with the same problem, but a majority of them had their problem solved after doing a Regedit on the AppData value within the HKEY_CURRENT_USERS registry. I have done all this and have had no luck, I even checked out HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE but had no luck there either. Oddly enough I was able to install Daemon Tools today, but the other programs I was having problems with before still aren't working and i still get the error code. Any ideas/solutions would be much appreciated as I have been wading through forum after forum to no avail, all I'm finding is the "typical" solution.
MY SYS. SPECS:
Dell inspiron N4010 (laptop)
Windows 7 (64-bit)
Int. Pent. 6400 2.0GHz

Are you running some kind of firewall?
Have you seen this? You receive an "Error 1606" error message when you try to install or remove a Microsoft program
Give this a shot once. Eusing Free Registry Cleaner download and reviews from SnapFiles
