    Are you trying to boot a specific OS, set of tools or just want something that is bootable that you can install your own tools on?

    DOS Bootable USB flash drive - how I did it (Perley's Pontificating Place at Oracle)

    I can tell you that some USB sticks don't work very well for booting. I have a Toshiba 8 GB flash drive that works very well.
