    Facial Recognition Software?

    Google is unhelpful.

I saw one of these programs in a security expo but i don't remember the name. It was used in vegas for black list detection but not quite as well as the stuff in the tv shows (time consuming but still very cool technology). From what I recall the system - similar to what you said Richeem - was loaded onto/sold with the computer. The entire system was designed for that purpose: needless to say it ran an embedded OS, Cisco looking but don't quote me on that. This was just one program though... I'm sure plenty exist on various system architectures. It's pretty big with corporate & airport security.

That's all I recall but I'd be interested in knowing more from this thread too. I know some people in security and can ask but it might take a while to get in touch with them as I don't speak with them regularly. I'll be following this thread.

What if someone has a pic of you? Would that allow some one in or is it based more on geometrics?

From the system I saw I think it doesn't matters. It seemed like it was using the landscape of the face, position of the eyes, nose and mouth but all I saw was one dinky camera and a computer system with a fancy program. So I'm guessing they can do it with a photo too. But totally not sure. In my defense usually at expos and conferences I tend to drink a little bit. Any security folks on the forum?
