titelbar & taskbar...
hi guys,
is it possible to change the name of an application software in titelbar and taskbar??
i am not doing this for piracy, i just need to hide the name of the software from my friends & confuse them with wrong names when i show them the software....Last edited by Trex042; October 26th, 2011 at 02:44 AM.

That info is hard coded into the app.... You can change it for Internet Explorer ith that'll help.

Sketchy isn't something to help you, I was saying what you are trying to do sounds sketchy.
What application are you trying to manipulate?

If you just want to clear your history, recently opened documents, etc. to hide some pr0n that's easy enough, lol, you don't need to be an expert coder or pull out the hex editor.

Okay here's the deal. No one seems to respond to this asinine thread because... well it's asinine. But I'm going to explain this anyway because you called me a genius and I'm flattered:
"Sketchy" has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE THREAD. It isn't something you name a program, it isn't the name of a program, it isn't a task, it isn't a service and it isn't a type of SDRAM (thought I'd cover all bases)! He was basically saying that your motives may be disingenuous for wanting to change active program names running and appearing on your task bar. You know, being "sneaky." Sketchy means the same thing. Dishonest.
But glad you found what you're looking for.
That's mean... bonehead is pretty smart! Don't make enemies on the forum. People are very nice and helpful here. Plus I wouldn't get RR angry. He has a red button that's just perfect for lifetime bans.

But maybe you found a tool that does other things like hide the task bar or form a short cut that, when clicked, hides the task bar. That's also a good technique.
You can set the taskbar to auto-hide by right clicking on it, hitting properties and then by selecting the "auto-hide" check box.
You can also lock down folders from other users on your system if they have different user accounts (only your account will be able to view the files). To do this right click on the directory, hit properties, hit advanced and activate encryption (mainly supported on all professional versions of Windows though works fine on XP Media Center SP3 for me). This takes advantage of NTFS's EFS (encrypting file system). The only protection this will afford though is from other users on the computer from opening the files (those with access to your account will still be able to access the files). You could combine this with other methods such as true encryption, selecting "hidden" from the properties menu to hide the directory/file, etc.
Or you can just watch porn in front of everyone, do nasty deeds and not really worry about what other people think. Hell... at least that's an honest way of doing it.
Taxman does that as do I. *
* Just kidding of course... XD At least in my case I am.Last edited by Interrupt; November 25th, 2011 at 05:58 PM.
