Need a good free macro utility

I need a good free (not free for trial, please) software for macros. Surely somebody has put out a good, lightweight, free utility to make some macros? I'm just talking about key combos for games, not using this for real programming.

How do you use this to make key combos to shortcut in games? Is there a way to assign the key combos to hotkeys?

edit> still working with it, I'm trying to set up keystrokes for a game. Just a simple thing, I hit one hotkey to say... get all my health buffs. My Nostromo had an absolutely awesome utility but it only works with the nostromo pad. Would use intellitype but i have a laptop.
