MS Word table text does not flow to next page

    Hi all,

I have a similar problem to that stated in MS WORD Table will not continue to next page though not exactly the same. My table goes over a number of pages and has multiple columns and rows. The problem is that when the text exceeds the height of the page, the text disappears and does not continue on to the following page. The next page just shows the next row in the table.

After reading this thread I disabled text wrapping in the table but that hasn't made a difference. Is there something else I should do from here? The "Allow text row to break across pages" option is greyed out.

I would be eternally grateful for any suggestions!

Is the text direction anything other than horizontal in one of the cells? This will cause the "Allow row to break across pages" option to be grayed out (using Word 2010).

What version of Word are you using?

Yes, I do have both horizontal and vertical text directions. It would be difficult to remove the different text directions though, just as it makes my table neater. I am using Word 2010.

If you change it to horizontal, the option won't be grayed out any more. If that's unacceptable, you may have to insert another cell and manually copy the content that won't fit into the new cell.

Yep, I changed the text all to horizontal again and the option was no longer greyed out. Ticking that box fixed my problem.

Thank you so much guys! Much appreciated!

Glad to hear that it worked.
