| Installing OS on new HD in mac book pro
Is anyone familiar with installing mac os on a new hard drive. The HD in my mac book pro quit so I replace the drive. When going through the installer steps I get to a screen "Select a Destination, Where do you want to install Mac OS X?" and in the white box nothing is listed and only option is to go back.If I go into Disk utility I see the Western Digital hard drive I installed.

Does the disk utility offer you format and partition options?

if a mac is any thing like a PC you would have to change the boot order ,to
get the OS install on a new drive. make CD/DVD first to boot.
next make sure operating disc is inside drive while booting.
cheers

No you dont do that like in a mac, usually you just boot the mac and press the option key which will give you the option to the disc
