Looking for WIN-7 Drivers for Dell GX620
I am looking for Win 7 Drivers for a Dell GX260.
The Computers came with Vista and XP Installed by Dell.
..
I also have GX745s - but they also have the same migration problem. Incidentally, both have dual core Pentium processors installed and working.
.....
Bought a Win 7 Upgrade (from XP to Win 7).
Ran fine, but I have no network, and the dual video card is back to single "Default) Video.
..
Went out and bought a Win 7 O.S.
Installed it from scratch - same problem.
...
Tried to get Drivers from Dell - All they have are Win XP drivers (Some Vista, but not all of them).
..
I need:
the Chipset
The LAN/NIC
The Video
The Sound
The BIOS Flash Updates
...
In all honesty, I found a Video Driver on the Radeon Site that worked with the Radeon Chipset for the short PCI-E Video Card (But not for the on-board Chipset).
...
LAN is the big issue, without a LAN/NIC I cannot do anything.
...
Any advice, solutions?
..
I know there are drivers out there, I know of three shops that are selling the Computers with Win 7 Installed. But I am shocked by the "We will Install it for you for $250.00 asking price. I have 11 computers to get converted over. I also have a Dell Win-7 Reinstall disk, but as I said - no drivers. Bought 11 of the CDs direct from Dell.
....
Thanks in advance, I know everyone is really busy (I know I am). I really appreciate any and all assistance.

Well since you say Dell didn't issue updated drivers you have two options - Google each component individually or check the manufacture's site for drivers directly from them.
If you don't know who made the parts you can run something like Pc Wizard and it should tell you CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
If you can't find the drivers straight from the manufactures site then you'll be forced to search through Google to see if anyone else might have already attempted a W7 install.
For stuff like bios updates, that is generally up to the OEM and they usually don't issue much for OEM boards unless there is something really major to change. Those aren't OS specific anyways so that shouldn't matter, if they have updates on Dell's site then use the most up to date.
For chipset drivers those are likely Intel based and can be found on the Intel site.
This is one reason I always suggest people with legacy machines do their research before trying OS upgrades. In many case HP, Dell ect didn't push out driver updates leaving users to look for them themselves.Last edited by RicheemxX; June 4th, 2012 at 09:38 PM.

Thanks for the CPUID link (and program).
I like this, kinda reminds me of the allruns program.
....
Well, The good news is that Dell isn't really as proprietary as they would have you believe.
..
Dell doesn't make their motherboards (but they do use a Dell Branded BIOS Chipset).
..
My issues are that I cannot run CPU-ID because I cannot download it.
I can't get the USB to work in Windows 7 (because I don't have chipset drivers, and to get those I need the LAN/NIC to work.
...
Will CPU-ID work in Windows 7? or do I have to run it in Win XP-Pro and then hope I can find Win XP and Win-7 drivers from the same source?
...
I was hoping someone here had already done this and could at least send me a CD with the Driver for the LAN/NIC (I'll pay for it - no problem). What would be even sweeter is if someone had already done it and could sent a CD with the LAN/NIC, Video (on-board), The Chip-Set, and the Sound Drivers.
...
But I can dream. Can't I?
..
Anyway, I have seen many of these being sold out there, so I know somebody has already done it.
...
I'll keep working on it.

Well it appears as though you have access to the internet from at least one computer, can you not use it to burn a disk? Yes PC-Wizard will run from Windows 7.
According to the specs listed on the dell site (here) it looks like just about everything is Intel based so you should be able to go to the Intel site and get anything you need.
I'm fully aware of that fact, however, in most cases the manufactures rarely update the BIOSs in those OEM boards. Those are most likely Intel branded boards, with custom Dell micro-code. So if there was an update it would be on the Dell site. Much the same if they were specifically built for HP they'd be listed on the HP site. OEM boards and updates for them rarely show up on the actual manufactures site.Well, The good news is that Dell isn't really as proprietary as they would have you believe.

edit: If nothing else you said you have 11 pcs to work on. Surely you didn't format them all did you? Or heck slap Win Xp on one just long enough to grab some drivers and get the rest up an running

BTW, if the transmission is not computer controlled, and especially if the engine is running a carb, take a look at the kickdown linkage as well.
