Msconfig user error, changed number of processors!
Hi,
I seem to have had a, should we call it a moment of idioticness?
Using msconfig, boot, advanced, number of processors, I changed it to 4, quad core system...
This is all remote work (Logmein)...
On first boot I get to the desktop where it seems to have frozen?
Am assuming it was the processor setting change that has made it freeze. Only other programs run were Malwarebytes (all clear) & CCleaner just normal settings.
So if I can boot into safe mode I should be able to undo msconfig change right?.
Failing that I made a system restore point b4 doing anything, will that change the msconfig changes?
If safe mode fails what tools will I need and what files will I need to change to get the number of processors back to one?
Or am I over thinking this and its just a coincident? Logmein get as far as user name/password then will sit saying please wait. Which would indicate that something is working on the laptop!
Answers by 7am Thursday morning please :-D (if you have an idea post what ever time please)
EDIT
Left Logmein trying to log on while I wrote this and it has moved on, it now step three, verifying my identity! Would the processor change SLOWED the system down! That was why I was on there in the first place.Last edited by theonetruegod; June 13th, 2012 at 07:35 PM.

LOL....
Was able to run system restore via user help in safe mode...
Haven't heard from them since... not returning my calls. Which I did say if the restore didn't work call me otherwise alls good.
Still, SPEAK to me ppl (end user not helpful forum members)....In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

What would you like for us to say...besides talk to the other person and see if the current cpu issue went away???

I googled "Speak to ME" in an effort to try and figure out what you're talking about. Came up dry.
Do you maybe by some small chance have a question you'd like to ask?
Did you every hear back and get the number of processors resolved?“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”
