Is Onlive a Microsoft thing?
Is it?
If not, what can I use to edit my excel stuff on the ipad that doesn't frigging garble it all to hell?

No Onlive is a platform on its own and not really an MS thing. Onlive desktop uses virtualization that allowed you to use MS office apps on a tablet, but that has since changed a bit. Now AFAIK the app just allows you to remote into your Windows machine with office on it, or something along those lines

edit: It looks like they might have changed it up a bit more than I recall and it might be a stand alone app now. I know they had some issue with MS and licensing and I haven't used the app itself.
