I use two: Ccleaner CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
and
Eusing Free Registry Cleaner: Safely scan and repair registry problems - Spyware FREE.
That's all you will need. After you clean the registry I recommend NTREGOPT. ERUNT and NTREGOPTLast edited by Taxmancometh; October 23rd, 2012 at 07:15 PM.

I'm with Tax on that... CCleaner is what came to mind first.

Another vote for CCleaner, but in the past I have used Iolo System Mechanic, and it was a good tool. A little more expensive than I want now, as I used to have a complimentary version from a PC magazine.

Just watch out for what you are deleting. I have used iolo and it was OK, but it did create some issues with my PC at the time. I do use CCleaner which has been good.

You also have the option to back up your registry. I would suggest you do it. I had something go wrong with some Apple phone software, and needed to restore the registry.
I did it again, and it was fine. Hmmm....Obama: The rich have the Federal Reserve and the poor have Harry Reid... LOL. Life really is unfair!

My vote is also for CCleaner, I've used it for years without a problem.

I've also used TweakNow, which was recommended by Rob, and it has a registry cleaner that works just fine. It also has some other handy tools beyond what CCleaner has.
