    AV for Linux

I am wondering with the growing popularity of Linux is there or should there be a anti-virus program for linux. (I hope I'm not looking like fool for posting about something that does exsist)

I thought about titleing this post "I wrote the first linux virus" but I guess that would have been in very bad taste. But I bet it would have gotten some hits! Don't worry I can't even program my VCR.

Ummmmmmmm Since virus's basically work through the gaping holes in the windows OS (email client in particular)........ it really isn't a problem for Linux. So you really won't find any......or a need for any.

The only Linux AV software I heard of was basically targeted at the newbie market (IE previous windows users---no pun intended)........

I get hammered in email with all kinds of virus's that have taken down some of my friends computers ........ it just shows up as letters........(kinda looks like a jpeg in text format ) ..... no worries........ just hit the delete key and its gone..... poof!!!

That was one of the main reasons I am running linux today...... had a virus that was recieved in email take down one of my computers...... and did that ever irritate me!!!!!! So I went looking at other OS's ......... just to have safe email............

And to think MS wants to make us SAFE with the Fritz chip and XP ..........................nahhh ........ I'll stick with my penguin...... he's my friend

Trojans and those bots used in DOS attacks are the main worries as I understand it,but those are usually aimed at the bigger fish ...err..penguins
