So you have a linux server at work, and you want to connect to it from home?
Ohhhhh just re-read what you want...
So you basically want to dialup into work and use the linux box as a remote gateway like an ISP...
Hmmmm dunno, I misread earlier
Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

Never done it myself, but it's certainly feasible. There is a nice howto for dialin services, so while I cannot be more specific I can tell you it can be easily done. Only thing is you need root access to the linux box to set it up. Of course you need a modem for it to to call.
However remember that typical 56K modems, upload only at 33.6K, and this means that you will get only 33.6K out of the linux box modem towards yours.
