I checked my Windows dir for its size and I got this back,
Size 1.29GB (1,393,618,865)
Size on disk 1.16GB (1,250,436,109)
Anyone know why the actual size is smaller |

If that's w2k or xp,I believe it reserves space for the system. That would explain the difference...I think

Maybe some files in the Windows directory, by default, are compressed. |

I believe that the difference is due to cluster size and how much space is wasted by file size. Windows now shows you how much actual space is used by your data and how much space is used by the clusters used to store and retrieve that data. |

The reason why the "size on disk" is smaller than the "size" is because there are some compressed files and folders in your windows directory.
If your computer is set to show compressed files and folders with a different color, then you can easily see this by going ahead and looking at what is in your windows directory. |

It says that because that is how much space you have on your disk due to cluster size and the space that the windows SWAP-FILE is taking up on it. |
