Alien converts between the rpm, deb, Stampede slp, and Slackware tgz file formats. If you want to use a package from another distribution than the one you have installed on your system, you can use alien to convert it to your preferred package format and install it.
Sounds like a very handy app.

Used it before... doesn't really work that well as both .deb's & rpm's depend on files being in specific places & distro's tend to disagree on those locationsI dreamt that a large eagle circled the room three times and then got into bed with me and took all the blankets.
