Dual-Booting Around OS/Hardware problems ?

Here's the deal. I've been debating Win98SE or WinXP. The solution that struck me is obvious--use both.

I have some older cards (Video/TV/DVD) and and also a good USR hardware ISA modem that aren't supported by Win XP--or any OS past 98SE (ME for ISA) for that matter. Trust me--I've looked into it.

Now what if I install WinXP and also Win98SE on the same computer ? ?

Is thare any way of taking an ATI Video All-In-Wonder PCI Rage 128 and an ISA modem away from XP's "eyes" ?

And giving XP an external serial modem with voice-support for telephony, while 98SE enjoys the USR ISA Hard-modem. And running the older AIW-TV capture PCI gfx card under 98SE which won't work under XP.

(I also have a DVD "inlay" card which I'm hoping I can some milage out of.)

In other words, can I have in effect two computers in one box ?

And does it matter if the two OS's are on one HDD or two ?

Basically, it's the ATI Rage 128 AIW TV PCI Gfx card and the USR ISA modem I don't want XP to holler about.

I think what you suggest is very possible:it would simply be a matter of removing the devices from the 2 OSs respective hardware profiles.

i got no problem with it. in my case, got XP and 98SE installed in one HDD but different partition of course. XP on NTFS and 98 on FAT32..

just make sure all your hardware is compatible with XP.
