data recovery app needed?

im looking for an app cheap or free that will recover partitions from a hard drive.
i mistakenly upgraded one of my hard drives in win2k from basic to dynamic not knowing that it would hide all my data.
ive try partition magic un-delete and it crashes half way through on four different machines.

any help much appp!

I've seen this used before. Ontrack EasyRecovery to recover a deleted partition. It even found files from long ago that hadn't yet been overwritten. Lots of options/features, with only one problem: the price!! It's way out of my price range.

g'luck on the recovery quest!!

Oooh, you tried using PM? That could cause it to be un-undeletable now. PM can stuff it up a bit. Might be hope, though...

A couple os useful apps I'm not sure are up in Steve's post:

www.finaldata.com (not free, but can trial to see if it can help)

Drive Rescue (free, but link don't work at present, but I have a copy if you want - about 900k's. PM me)

http://www.partition-recovery.com/partition.htm - has a demo as well.
