XP pro full or upgrade.

I'm thinking of upgrading win98se to XP pro but I would like to know what exactly is the difference between XP pro Full version and XP pro upgrade version other than $100.

Well, I'm not positive on the difference between the upgrade and the full version, other than I think the upgrade only replaces newer files.

You'll probably hear this a few times yet: Do yourself a favor and drop the extra $100 for the full install. MS upgrade packages tend to do more damage than not for some reason.

You can install winXP from the scratch on a clean formatted HD, whether you use Upgrade or Full version CDs ..

Incase you used the Upgrade version .. it will ask you for a legal previous M$ OS (win98, winME ...etc to prove that you are entitled to use the product) .. when you pop-in the CD, the setup process will go on as normal ..

With the Full winXP version, you will not be asked for any previous OS CD ..

So they install the same just one asks for verification and the other doesnt I was under the same impression as whir.

Please dont rub that in jerry I cannot pull myself to do it. So I will be shelling out hundreds of dollars while the rest of you play poker with the stacks of OS's you have ordered from there.
