remove "programs" folder from start menu

I have an NT 4.0 server that I am currently configuring some groups with different policies. The lowest level group will have the greatest amount of restrictions. One of the restrictions that I would like to implement is to remove the default "programs" folder from the start menu. Instead of programs folder I have created a custom start menu with the icons that the group will need. I can't figure out how to remove the default "programs" folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

hmm, haven't used 4.0 in a LONG time, but i believe if you log in as an admin, you can go to the users folder (i can't remember where, just that it's different than 2k/XP) and under the start menu folder there is the programs folder, so you'll need to delete that and also the programs folder in the "all users" folder.

Yes, but that would also delete the program folder for everyone else as well. There might be something like win2k server policy editor that might be helpful. I know in Win2k server click start -> run then type "poledit".

Hope this might help.

If there's no policy for it, you could just make the folder "hidden". You should still restrict the groups access so they cannot make it visible again.

I'm sure there is a way to remove it with "POLEDIT" though.

well, like i said haven't used NT 4.0 in a while, but if it's like 2k it won't delete everyone else's programs folder. in 2k, each user has their own start menu floder that is independant of all the other users start menu folder, which includes the programs folder. now there is an "all users" folder, which some programs use, but it's not hard to replace those in each users custom start menu folder.
