Free, decent MPG encoder?
Okay, I KNOW that this question has been asked a bzillion times already, but I'm forgetful and lame. I've got a Voodoo 3 3500 TV for a capture card, and I want something that will either capture from it to MPG WELL or something that will convert the AVIs to MPG decently. I'm running XP currently, but if someone knows how to get free stuff that works for this thing running on anything else, I'm game for installing it (haven't had Linux on my machine in a while, might be fun again).
Thanks.

There are a few at http://www.doom9.org/software2.htm#mpeg2encs
Most people prefer tmpgenc. There's a 30 day trial for just the MPEG2 encoder, but as the caption says you can stretch that 30 days with a little creativity at installation. The reason for the shareware charge is the MPEG2 algorithms are licensed.Last edited by J-Excel; September 3rd, 2002 at 12:14 PM.

Slow news day? Trying to keep the public from actually looking at the troubles we have with our Government today? Someone cares?
