Installed Drake 8.0 now cant get it to boot

I've got drake and win2k I set grub as the loader, I can get to win2k by selecting windows (evidently my MBR from before I did this, which was win2k and win98 will give me the win2k boot loader and load win2k) when I load drake however, after a certin point it just starts looping numbers ... I've tried installing it like 3 times.. should I DL a new distro? (more like goto my friend with DSL) or try and reinstall again? (i tried FreeBSD, and yea... um I'm not going to attempt that right now...

Well, before trying another distro you could try installing Lilo instead of grub.

It is another boot manager, and the one that I prefer

I actually used liolo on the first two installs.... I think it may be caused by scratches on the CDs (or my harddrives could be dieing again... IBM 60GXPs...I really need to get some different drives..) I've ran linux on this machine before, but it messed up my win2k install last time.. I was just gonna use a new drake distro btw. (I like drake)

using the 2k bootloader is cool, but going the lilo way is even more simple. by the way, drake 8.2 is very nice. 9 is out, and comes with kde 3, but its in beta stage.

probably the way you partitioned the drive im guessing. mandrake has one of the better partitioning tools when it comes to linux. disk druid is easy as well with redhat, but drake makes life easier for someone trying linux as long as you understand the drive scheming.

I think what happened last time was that drake took over the MBR or somthing and 2k wouldent load. Now Its drake not loading. I think I'll just get 9.0..

if youre going to d/l the images i would say get 8.2 or wait for mandrake 9.0 to get out of its beta stage, but thats just my opinion.

Its not my bandwith ^_^; I could have sworn I had some 8.2 Cds laying around that I got from school last year... maybe I'll just order a few distros or somthing.
