    Autocad floppy seek

Autocad 2000 accesses the floppy drive everytime it opens and closes.

The user admits to opening a drawing directly from a floppy disk, and this is what most likely is causing it.

    How do I stop this?

The draftsman may have it set to find a title block, layers, or other settings from floppy. I havent used Acad in about a year, so you'll have to fish around for the settings. Sorry I cant help you more . Check the paths to the title block.

I bet it might be a floppy reference in the file itself.

Try creating a simple new drawing and see if the same conditions exist. If no, then it is not the program .... it's references in the file itself.

Try the Tools>Options>Files tab and see if anything is referencing the floppy drive.

You might also try changing the startup dialog box under Tools>Option>System

    Issue:

After opening a drawing from the floppy disk drive, the operating system looks for that drive to be available for access the next time you start AutoCAD LT.

    Solution:

Use the following procedure to log out the floppy disk drive from active use in Windows:
    • Minimize AutoCAD LT.
    • Insert a disk in the floppy disk drive.
    • Open My Computer and double-click the icon for the floppy disk drive.
    • Close the floppy drive window.

After completing the procedure, the floppy disk drive will not be accessed the next time you start AutoCAD LT.

Although the instructions above are for ACLT, both have basically the same Windows interface so it should work for the full version as well.
