Screen image too wide for print

Win98FE, HP940Cse, IE5.5
I was trying to print a web page but it was getting cutoff on the right hand margin. I went into page setup and had to change both the right and left margins to .25" to get the whole page. Why or what can be done about this in the future? Thanks. :)
