| Where do I get a Linux demo CD?
It seems like I read a thread a while back about downloading a CD that contained a Linux demo but didn't install any programs. I have been looking for it without success. Can someone point me to it please?
I would love to replace windoz but am hesitant about it. I would like to see what kind of sw is there and how it works.
Thanks. |

But you forgot the site I am the webmaster for... www.virtual-linux.org ... I felt left out LOL ! www.virtual-linux.org it is based on Mandrake 8.0 It does work very nicely.........and now with Mandrake 9.0 out.....a new version is in the works ......... I am working with the developers and D2OL to incorporate the D2OL client with the "Virtual Linux" cd for this release.
BTW ...... even though I am the webmaster for virtual-linux.org ......the BEST "run from cd rom" distro available currently is Knoppix 3.1 ...... very very impressive. In my humble opinion.........
#1 Knoppix 3.1
#2 Virtual-Linux 1.1
#3 Demo Linux
#4 Suse Live-Eval
there are several others out there.........but these 4 are probably the best you will find...... if anyone knows of any that are as good..... let me know. I have tried them all and even still find them to be very fun to play with.
I did try to download "Cool Linux" based on redhat...... didn't have any luck getting it to work. |

OK I have downloaded the knoppix .iso file. Can someone tell me how to burn this to a CD with Nero? I was going to try "burn image" but I'm not sure thats right and it wants options. It wants image type, data mode 1, 2, or HSF, or I can say "raw data". If not raw data I need a block size and header and trailer.
Any suggestions?
Thanks |

When Nero starts up close the "New Compilation" window. Go to "File". Click it and you get a dropdown menu. Select "Burn Image". Point it to the ISO you downloaded, use "Look In" and select the file. The "Write CD" dialog will pop up. Click "Burn", check "Write" under action and "Finalize CD". Then hit the write button.
That should do it, but I haven't used Nero in a while. |

Germ, thanks for the reply. Do you think I should use "raw data" as the option for burn image. I don't know what block size, etc, should be. |
