    screensaver help

    Hi all,

I am not really sure where to put this question but since it is about screensavers, I thought OS formum would be best.

Anyway, at work we have switched to Windows 2000 from NT. Every day we log off when we go home. In the morning when we log back on, our screensavers have reset to the default one. Every day we have to go in and reset it to the screensaver we want.

Does anyone know how to stop it from resetting?

I know it sounds pretty lame , but we like our personal screensavers. It helps keep the sanity intact around here.

    Thanks,
    ng

Talk to your Administrator. He might have an answer why this is happening. He might have some sort of duty cycle that kicks in in the middle of the night and reboots. Some kind of backup data file might be used to boot from which recreates the computer in an image of his choosing.

    Cheers!

Oh I know the problem .. you didn't buy the Windows 2000 Screen Saver Edition .. well thats gonna cost 150 bucks a machine to upgrade .. Just call M$ I am sure they would be happy to help you

Ok thats not the problem .. I don't know how to fix it, but I am sure someone who does will be along shortly

Are the computers imaged in any way or set to default back to certain setting whenever they reboot? I know when I worked at the local college for a time, they had that. They used a program called Deep Freeze to keep the same settings/software for all the computers

Talk to your administrator. More than likely he/she has set up mandatory profiles. You can change it but it will revert back to the profile when you log in again.

Same problem. New machine with no profiles other than the default from the Win2k setup. This is a family pc so there is no administrator setting up any scheduled utilities or anything.
