Thread: 101 Things Mozilla does IE can't

Brandon, that's exactly why IE exist. Just for people who don't want to bother or go through "all that trouble" of learning a few different ways to do something. Or maybe some people are already at their capacity and they couldn't possibly learn anything new even if you pounded it into their head with a ball-peen hammer. IE is kinda like a safety net to catch all the people that can't make it across the tight rope.
And when you're bouncing on the net down there, don't think you weren't talented enough to walk the tight rope, just imagine that net is a bunch of tight ropes all criss-crossed, and you're walking them all!
(Ok so I'm in super-smartass mode tonight….sue me.

mozilla is good. it's gotten a lot better at handling complex code, especially with css-2 and css-p and dom, and xml. it's fairly stable, not crashing all that much.
however it's still slower than ie6, doesn't render quite as well as it. face it mozilla is still a bit of a memory bloat. PLUS i can't stand it's font rendering being in PIXELS not in POINTS. regular true type fonts are meant to be sized in poitns, not pixels and i wish they would return font management to points like netscape 4.x did it.
other than that, mozilla is pretty good, but i won't leave ie. not yet. i would like to see ie get tabbed broswing, that's great stuff.

I also have reverted back to IE, for the sole reason of initial load speed. Other than that, it is a damn fine browser. Pety excuse I know.
If my PC wasnt so slow, I wouldnt have a problem with the load time.
(Also, I have no problems with IE, so why change. As they say, if it aint broke, dont fix it.)Last edited by sven222; November 10th, 2002 at 06:06 AM.

Well, I'm very used to IE, and I thought Mozilla to be a bit depressive (not much colors), I found a skin that had too much colors (named something like Startrek...), but then I found the IE skin
, so now it looks like I have IE with tabs.

So I just need Mozilla 1.1 and that's it? There are files like Phoenix and Bugzilla, do I need them?

is there a keyboard shortcut to switch between tabs?
edit -
also - i'm using 1.1 - could someone with 1.2 open this link, and compare it with how IE 5.5 opens it?
On mine, the text in the episode description isn't justified correctly, and the right edge of it is cut off. Don't want to make a bogus report if this has been addressed in 1.2
Thanks.

Usually, terrible things that are done with the excuse that progress requires them are not really progress, but just terrible things.

Phoenix is another browser, it's designed to be faster, less bloated etc... it's still alpha/beta (?) but I use it, and have had no problems.
Bugzilla is the bug reporting system...you don't need it...

Hm... just for kicks and giggles I downloaded the 1.2 beta. It's pretty impressive how much they've sped it up, the actual downloads of new pages are the same speed between Opera and Mozilla now, but... back and forth between pages Opera still mops the floor with it.
What I don't get is why the Opera cookie management in Linux is so much better than the windows version???
Oh well...

Cyphen, I tried the 1.2 and the bug in your link isn't fixed by it.
