Windows XP Dynamic Disk Deployment

I currently have a Western Digital 74.50GB UATA100 7200RPM Hard Disk Drive and Windows XP Professional, and I mainly use these two apparatuses at home. I would like to know something that I had an obsession with since the days of Windows 2000 Professional:

I am considering to convert my Basic NTFS Disk to a Dynamic Disk for Fault Tolerance purposes. Should I consider converting to a Dynamic Disk if I play a lot of games, do productive work, surf the Internet, regardless of what I do with Windows XP Professional? Like I said before, I have Windows XP Professional and I would like to know if it's even worth it to convert to Dynamic Disk or not.

From the above link: "Windows XP Professional does not provide fault tolerance"

Personally the only good reason I see to convert to dynamic volumes is for server purposes (or any machine that MUST be running constantly and consistently), but it wouldn't do you any real harm if you choose to experiment. It is however an irreversible process from a data standpoint. I don't know how much you actually know about the differences in formatting and such between the two, so I won't go into much detail.

Let me know if you want anymore info....hope this helps!

So it's NOT worth it to convert my Single Partition to a Dynamic Disk......

there are other advantages to dynamic disks such as the ability to dynamically resize your partitions.

The switch to dynamic is reversible, although it's not nearly as easy as going the other way.

Windows does offer soft RAID abilities, but at an awful cost in processor time.

Generally, i don't suggest home users use dynamic disks. It's a whole different ball game than most people are used to.

I wouldn't suggest it for home use either, unless you wanted to use it as a learning tool.
