| Outlook versus Outlook express?
I know that most peeps use OE because most peeps aint got Msoft Office. Im building a comp for a freind of mine and it has Office2000....what are the benefits of Outlook versus outlook express.
He runs a fitness training business and may do a few group emails but I know that one can do that from Outlook express....so is there any reason to setup and use outlook or would that just add complexity.
Dude is pretty much a beginner and I will probably be coaching him every step of the way.
Outlook or just outlook express?

Outlook has a calendar and other functions, but I would just stick with Outlook Express. It's quicker to load and isn't as confusing for newbs. |

And OE doesn't talk back like Outlook does.
"Would you like to turn the journal on? or Auto Archive, etc,"
I vote for OE.. I know I'm going to flamed for this but it's really one of my favorite mail clients. Simple, easy to use and backup, if the need arises..

Ever since I started using Outlook, I've never given OE a second thought...
For me, Outlook loads twice as fast as OE (just checked ) and I love having a calendar to keep track of things... The autoarchive is nice because then you don't have to worry about your inbox getting overfull of emails... the rules (imo) are more robust than OE's, and I like Outlook's address book better than OE's...
About the only thing I liked about OE was the ability to have seperate login identities... although, it had no security, but it kept multiple users seperate...
anyways, ciao!! |

The only reason I can think of that would make Outlook load faster than OE is because: A: you've got allot of main in your inbox, sent items, drafts, etc.. B: you have Office load in your startup group.. C: you're using Outlook allot and Windows has prioritized it on the disk for it to look faster D: some combination of the three..
Not knocking your choice ^hyd^ - to each his own I say - but Outlook is notorious for it's bloat. All things being equal OE should load faster..
In Outlooks defense I think you can have Multiple identies in Outlook 2002.. It's own of the new features.. |
