Random crashes in Win 2K...
Hey, I'm getting some random crashes on Windows(not that unlikely) but they seem to happen when I'm doing something with file attributes. Like changing them from hidden to viewable and read-only. It also happens when I'm doing some other things. The proc is only running about 39c normal and 45c at full load. The RAM is Kingston PC133 256MB and a Shuttle AK32 mobo, My proc is AMD Duron 950 and vid card is a riva tnt2 32mb.
The RAM is running at PC133 while the proc is @ 100FSB. I haven't tried to take the RAM down to 100MHz but might try that.
Any suggestions are welcome!
David

Forgot to mention I was also wanting to know if there was a way, while user login is automatic, to hold a button or something and be able to enter a different user and login to a different user. Instead of the default one.
Thanks again.

November 26th, 2002, 03:57 PM #4Well I can't answer your first question but this one I can help. If you got to control panel then users/passwords on the the screen under users there is a place where it says. users must enter a username and password.Originally posted by davidamarkley

Check that and it will require you to log in everytime you boot to your desktop. if you want to log off with one user you can jsut go to start/shutdown the drop the scroll thing to logoff username then the password dialog box will show up.

Thanks, but what I was wondering is if there was a way to have it log you in automaticaly without having to enter password every time. But then if you wanted to login as a different user then you would just hold down a buutton or something and be able to login as whoever, without having to load up first. Thanks!

Check the event viewer. Does it give any indication of a failure before the reboot?

What does the bluescreen say?

There is no bluescreen... It just totally locks up. won't reespond to anything, all I can do is manually turn it off and start over. Very annoying...

I don't think it would have any record in the event viewer, because it totally locks up, no BSOD, no nothing...
Thanks and keep posting suggestions!

November 27th, 2002, 02:11 AM #9I know you can auto login without typing anything but I am not sure about holding down some sort of button to change users. Not sure on that.Originally posted by davidamarkley

Ugh. That's poor news indeed. I wonder if I missed any OVAs or anything.
