Hi,
Can someone please tell me how to set the inbox folder size or any other folder in outlook for that matter.
The 'help' is totally useless, the closet it gets is "define folder size" but this only shows what size it is not how to change it.
I would be grateful for any help.
Regards

I don't think there is any limit to the size of the folder. It just depends on how much hard drive space is available where the Outlook files are stored. Are you trying to limit the amount of space available? Maybe an explanation of what you're trying to do would help us to understand and help you. |

Hi,
I'm trying to increase it, it's set to 240K (including any subfolders) and hard drive space is not an issue.
Can you please tell me where the settings can be changed. |

Can you tell me where it says that it's set to 240k? Also, what version of Outlook are you using? |

Hi,
Using outlook 2000 SR-1 and it says it's set to 240k if you right click on theinbox folder, choose properties, general, folder size.

Are you sure it's not just telling you the size that it is at the present time?
I didn't know you could set the folder size. I thought it depended on disk space as well.
EDIT - Here
and Here
are the only things I can find that relate to sizes in Outlook.

Yep, it looks like it's just showing you the current size of the file containing the inbox messages. Is Outlook causing you problems? If it's not, then just leave it alone and it should be fine. If it is, then please describe what problems you're having. |

Hi,
Thanks for your help on this one, I agree this may well be the case. I was trying to find out because some older E-mails have disappeared, the auto-archive is not on and there is no file where archive would normally put one. I figured it may be because the inbox folder size was too small but I guess not but I still have no idea where the E-mails have gone.
Regards

Outlook does have a limit - if you exceed the limit, the .PST file becomes corrupt and you can't open it. Check out the Microsoft knowledge forums for details of how to change it.
I don't think you need to be worried to much - the default is well over 100MB, but I am one of those sad people who never archives their mail - and I therefore speak from experience! |

The limit is 2GB, so I don't think that will be much of a problem for a while yet... EvilRick's second link above talks about that. |
