Win 2K Modem Password To Long...

In other words, when I set up a connection in the modem wizard, I enter my isp user name, then my isp password of "1234". When I close and click to connect, the pass word is like 15 characters long! Is this some kind of encryption?

BTW, I can't get the modem to work, but I need it to work. I have a nic card which won't be hooked up until Monday and maybe this is the problem.
(Creative Modem Blaster (Call Waiting) DI5631)...can't get it to run...

Each asterik=one alphanumeric character.
MS shows the maximum # of characters allowed(15),at least for DUN.I guess it's to prevent shoulder surfers from seeing how long your password is.Should be fine.
Now about the modem not working...might get better response in tech.

Creative stuff is a pain in the arse? How long has it been in the PC, and did Windows Autodetect it? Usually in 2K, when it started to autodetect a new card, I hit cancel and ran the install package from the hardware mfcg. Never had a problem for me that way. Have you installed the drivers? I'm just trying to cover all the bases.

Thanks for the info on the PW, makes sense.

I think I'll wait until I get my DSL installed Monday. I have the modem disabled and it works fine in my master drive w/win 98. Win 2000 is in my slave and I am trying to configure as I go, plus learn the program.

I really won't need call waiting anymore anyway, I just don't want to buy another modem.

Thanks Mucho...
