Hi peoples, What the best size is for the paging file in XP, Or should there be no paging file at all, Would this speed up performance or will a optimal paging file size give the best performance, i have it currently set at 400mb, I have had no trouble while gaming only trying to load a large 3d file,
It comes up with the virtual memory warning shuts the program and then the pc runs VER VERY V-E-R---Y S--L--O--W...
Restarting will make it back to normal....
OS: XP pro
AMD Athlon
1800xp
256ddr pc2100
gf2mx400
Burners,dvd,++++
Thanks for all your help, ur all Wonderful |

You need to possiably change a jumper on your board. Change it to 133 My board has such a jumper but it is off so it is 133. Check your book for the setting. This will greatly impove overall speed. This may be the reason your system is "running so slow"

Since I have two HDD's in my machine,I have a 2gig partition on the second drive just for the page file.Pagefile is set to "let windows manage" its size.I have found this to be the least trouble.
I did this because I play with Valves Hammer editor and some maps that I try to push the bounderies on need LOTS os space to compile. |
