Wrong date stamp in Outlook express

My dad has had problems with the Sent Date on his email over the past couple of months. Outlook Express 6 seems to put an arbitrary future date stamp on his messages. He went through his Sent Items folder and found 13 of 103 messages with incorrect dates, ie.12/30/02, 1/1/03, 1/4/03. His computer is set to the correct date/time. The problem isn't associated with any certain day the messages were sent or the receiver.
Could a virus have snuck in under the radar?

I'm packing up the kids and we're heading to Grama and Grampa's house today. I'll see if that is the problem.
