Need Drivers for Toshiba Laptop
Hi guys,
Well I won't go on my rant.
However, I can't seem to find any drivers for my model of toshiba laptop. toshiba is not listing this as a model number in there downloads support section.
1400 Series PS140U-027xf7
Okay changed my mind.
[start rant]
I fdisk this laptop to get what partitions I wanted. All was gung ho and then Installed 2kpro on the laptop as I wanted to dump XP Pro in favor of 2kpro.
So I see things are messed up which I sorta expected. Lack fo drivers so i figure great, i'll just get online and get the drivers. now the problem shows up. I need the very drivers to be able to get online.
( I am not about to drag my kids' computer to the living room just to hook up online to get drivers) So im like great. Need that driver, vid drivers and couple of others. So I thought what the hell. I'll use XP and figuring that since I already fdisk and my partitions were in order that I would just restore to the C drive.
Now this is where i get pissed! Its a freaking stupid ghost image from symatic that i got with this laptop!!!!!!!
it totally wiped out all my partitions and everything. The whole point of my partitions are for swap file optimization and also data storage so I don't have to look ALL OVER THE FREAKING PLACE TO BACK UP 2 USERS SETTINGS ALL THE TIME! Rather I just back up the entire data partition.
So Im realy pissed that I wasn't given an option to use existing partition and it just went right ahead and wiped out all 4 of my partitions!!!!!!!!!! ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
[/end rant]
sorry, So now I got a new question since I can't find the drivers online.
Can I go back and fdisk yet again and then install 2kpro and when its all loaded delete the unfound drivers so I can do a hardware search, can i use the ghost restore disk in order to find the drivers since I know they are somewhere on one of the 3 disk? Or will that not allow me to do that?
Personally I don't like ghost and I can't belive these restore disk are set up like this.
Never have I seen a restore disk like this one.
Anyhow advice on my one question greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the new century where its all done for you! For your benefit!
Just run the restore and WHAP all clean just like new! Ain't it great!!
Well for a normal user yes it is.. but for people that dont' want it THEIR way it sucks
I have no idea on the drivers, I'm guessing all of the drivers are stored in a image file that you maynot be able to access. I'd think their drivers would be on their webpage though... do they not update them at all?
Don't be suprised if they're limited to XP only seeing as that is what was shipped with the laptop (although they should still work on 2k, they may put a catch in the code to look for XP and if its not ABORT!
Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

Robin: its hard to say, it really depends on how Sony has there restore CD setup. I can format alright, but I can not partition at all. Sony and Toshiba are two different companies. So hard to say what your disk is like and how they set up thier restore disk. As stated in my post, Toshiba had used Symatics Ghost Program.
i am looking on disk to see what I can get done. I'll post back results. I am NOT ABOUT TO LET THIS DEFEAT ME in how I want my laptop set up.

Well I have manage to copy what I think are all the drivers that I need for this laptop off the first CD of the restore disk, now if they will work I have no clue. So im off to fdisk to how I want thinks and then put 2kpro back on and see if all will go right. So i shall see.
Will come back in a while and update to what goes and doesn't.

Phew!!!!
Well I got it.
Its been tedious getting the right dirvers, I was able to use the 1500 series drivers and they are working just fine. Just a bit tedious to get them all in. Only have one left to figure out what it is. Says its Unknown Device. So gotta figure out what that is and once I get that figured out then whoo hooo im done with that part. Then to tweak it to my specfications and such then will be rolling.
One thing i noticed. Major performance increase.
Thumbs up dude on that !!!!!
ended up googling for a couple of the drivers i needed.
